2023 BOWLS ENGLAND

AWARDS NIGHT SUCCESS

FOR GLOUCESTERSHIRE

As well as the substantial successes on the green in the 2022 season,

noted below and celebrated in more detail on the News pages,

Gloucestershire recorded the highest level of success of any English

county at the 2023 Awards Night ceremonies in Leicester on 25th February.

On the one hand, we had 6 short-listed nominations for Awards, on the other

two of our County’s members actually walked off with trophies.

Well done to David Rolls (Frampton on Severn BC), who scooped the ‘Coach of the Year’ Award, decided by an expert panel of judges, and to Val Molton (Kingswood & Hanham BC), who won the ‘Unsung Hero’ Award, decided by a public vote.

In addition to the two winners, we had four others who were shortlisted :

Ourselves, Gloucestershire, for ‘County of the Year’, Begbrook Green BC for ‘Club of the Year’, Cheltenham BC’s men’s Top Club team for ‘Team of the Year’ and Ken Tudor, also for ‘Coach of the Year’.  Very  close in all those, I’m certain !

GREAT EARLY 2023 SUCCESS FOR GLOUCESTERSHIRE’S YOUNG MEN

Tremendous start for the young men of Gloucestershire, with their resounding success in the White Rose Trophy Regional Finals already taking them to the National Finals in Leamington !

A couple of weeks ago, the team overpowered Dorset 54-23 in the Preliminary Round, but in the Regional Finals at the lovely Chew Stoke green on Sunday 11th June, they firstly dealt very competently with a strong Warwickshire team in the Regional Semi-Final, 45-31, before going on to almost equal their dominance of Dorset, against Cornwall in the Regional Final, 45-23.

Brilliantly done lads !!   There is obviously so much young potential in the 2023 Gloucestershire White Rose team (see below).
